This Privacy Statement describes how Rotterdam Ahoy handles the data of persons, such as the visitors to Rotterdam Ahoy websites, newsletter recipients, buyers of admission tickets for events organised by Rotterdam Ahoy and the exhibitors of B2B or B2C activities organised by Rotterdam Ahoy (hereinafter: 'the user’ or 'you’). Rotterdam Ahoy complies with the requirements imposed by the General Data Protection Regulation within the context of the privacy legislation. We explain in the privacy statement why and how we process your personal data.
Who are we?
We are Rotterdam Ahoy, the place you associate with an experience. An experience that already starts when you visit the website, drive into the parking area or hang up your coat. And it does not end until you look back at the images of your moment in Ahoy and share them with your friends or relationships. We are 250 event professionals with a mission: creating the circumstances and the services that lift your experience to the highest level. We innovative until things cannot get any better, without losing our recognisability.
We are established at Ahoyweg 10, 3084 BA Rotterdam. Our data processing has been registered with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA).
Which personal data do we process?
Rotterdam Ahoy collects and registers data. See our cookie statement below for a comprehensive explanation in this connection. When you provide your data to Ahoy, you agree to the terms and conditions as determined in this Privacy Statement. Rotterdam Ahoy ensures that the collection and processing of your personal data take place with due care and in a secure manner.
Rotterdam Ahoy only uses your information for sending the newsletters you require, to contact you after participation in contests/promotions or for analysis purposes regarding events you have visited, and for information about our online media.
For what purposes do we process personal data?
Rotterdam Ahoy may use your information:
- to align our products and services with your preferences;
- to provide you with information about changes to our products and services, promotions, events and other events that are being organised in Ahoy, via e-mailing or social media for example;
- to improve our services (for instance, by conducting surveys);
- to conduct market surveys;
- to improve and secure our website;

- to analyse your visit to our events website.
Your data will not be used for purposes other than the ones mentioned above. If you no longer wish to receive messages from us, you can unsubscribe at all times by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter your receive from Rotterdam Ahoy or, if this is impossible, via email@example.com.
Rights of Data Subjects
Until 25 May 2018 (the GDPR effective date), we processed the personal data you provided to send the information requested by you with always the possibility of unsubscribing via the link at the bottom of the newsletter.
We adjusted our system on 25 May 2018 in which connection there is always insight into the correct registration date and you will always receive a verification e-mail after you register via our website in order to protect your privacy. If you are unable to unsubscribe from (one of) our newsletters using the unsubscribe link, you can send an e-mail containing this request to firstname.lastname@example.org in which you indicate clearly which newsletter you would like to unsubscribe from.
Retention period personal data
Rotterdam Ahoy retains your personal data no longer than strictly necessary in order to realise the aims for which your data are collected.
Personal data security
Rotterdam Ahoy makes every effort to ensure that your data are secured properly and implements appropriate technical and organisational measures for this purpose. Only those persons who need access to the information for their jobs are given access to the network systems on which user information is stored. The network systems are equipped with security systems and access codes.
Foundations of the processing
As explained above, Rotterdam Ahoy processes some personal data for the purpose of performing an agreement (events) and most of them for implementing Rotterdam Ahoy’s legitimate interest which is to realise our objectives. Provision of personal data to third parties
Rotterdam Ahoy will not provide data to third parties unless this is necessary for the provision of our services and/or to comply with a statutory obligation. We conclude a processing agreement with companies that process your data on our instructions in order to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality of your data. Rotterdam Ahoy remains responsible for this processing. Rotterdam Ahoy will not provide personal data to parties in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) without the necessary consent or authorisation.

Privacy concerns personal data in respect of which it can be established to whom they belong. Some are provided deliberately by visitors and others are collected in the background by the website.
